Next Cloud: Australian private cloud hosting from Newcastle
Next Cloud is our own hosting platform, designed and run by DATANEXT on Australian infrastructure. It was built for speed first, so remote desktops and line-of-business applications feel like the server is still in the office — without the hardware, the noise or the 3am disk failure.
Host anything
We don't shoehorn you into a product we happen to resell. If it runs on a server, it can run on Next Cloud: Remote Desktop and terminal servers, accounting and practice-management systems, SQL databases, file servers, phone systems, Linux workloads. You choose the software; we run the platform underneath it.
Three ways to do it
- Hybrid cloud — some servers stay on site, the rest run on Next Cloud. The usual starting point for businesses with one stubborn application.
- Private cloud — we supply and manage the hardware at your site, so you get the managed experience without your data leaving the building. Ideal where internet is poor or an application isn't cloud-ready.
- Public cloud — everything on Next Cloud, fully managed. Azure and Microsoft 365 where that's the better fit.
How a migration runs
We start with an assessment of what's actually running and what depends on what. Servers are replicated to Next Cloud while you keep working, tested with your staff, then cut over — usually over a weekend — with the old hardware kept powered for a fallback window before it's decommissioned. Backups and disaster recovery are part of the design, not an add-on.
What it costs
Hosted environments typically land between $700 and $2,000 a month depending on the number of servers, applications, users and data. You get a written figure before anything moves, and it's the same figure on the invoice. See pricing.
When cloud isn't the answer
Sometimes it isn't. A site with unreliable internet, or a legacy application that needs local hardware, is better served by a private cloud or simply a well-maintained on-premises server. We'll tell you that rather than sell you a migration.

Questions people ask
Is our data hosted in Australia?
Yes. Next Cloud runs on Australian infrastructure, and your data stays onshore.
What internet connection do we need?
A business-grade NBN service is usually enough for hosted desktops and applications. We check what's available at your address and can supply the connection through our carriage partner so the whole path is visible to us.
What happens if the internet drops out?
For most businesses the answer is a second connection (4G/5G or a second NBN service) with automatic failover. Where uptime without internet is essential, a hybrid or private cloud keeps critical servers on site.
Can you host our existing Windows Server licences?
In many cases yes, subject to Microsoft's licensing rules for the products involved. We'll confirm what transfers and what needs to be licensed through the platform before quoting.
